Description<\/h2>

Founded in 2008 in Leverano, in the province of Lecce, Birra Salento was born from a passion rooted in 1963, when Fernando Zecca worked in a brewery in Switzerland dreaming of producing beer in his homeland. Today, the company is run by Maurizio Zecca together with his children Chiara and Fernando, and is one of the most important breweries in Italy, with one of the largest and most technologically advanced plants in the country.<\/p>

Birra Salento's mission is to tell the identity and authenticity of Salento through the production of high-quality craft beers. The company is distinguished by a short agricultural chain: it grows local barley and hops, working closely with the academic world to select native varieties and enhance the territory's resources. Since 2022 it has been recognised as an agricultural brewery, and is building Salento's first malt house to complete the entire production cycle in-house.<\/p>

Special attention is paid to sustainability: production waste is reused as fertiliser or processed into flour, while residual yeast is used for biogas production, reducing the environmental impact.<\/p>

The range of beers is rich and varied: from references to local culture with labels such as Pizzica, Taranta and Beggia, to interpretations of European classics such as Agricola, Fresca and Nuda&Cruda, to more innovative proposals such as Tipa. Recently, Birra Salento has also introduced a line of non-alcoholic craft beers, expanding the offer with modern and inclusive solutions.<\/p>
